John Longden is a second generation S&C enthusiast, he developed a keen interest in the line from his father who would regularly take him to see steam specials in the 1980s. He is based in North Stainmore, near Kirkby Stephen and he concentrates his photographic efforts almost exclusively on the Settle & Carlisle line.
