The main difference with the summer timetable is the return of the popular DalesRail service. What’s DalesRail? It’s a summer service that links Lancashire with the scenic Ribble Valley, Yorkshire Dales and Eden Valley. It starts from the coastal resort of Blackpool and passes through Poulton-le-Fylde, Preston, Bamber Bridge, Blackburn, Whalley and Clitheroe before travelling along the S&C to Carlisle. Or, to put it another way, you can set off from, say, Blackpool in the morning and spend a whole day out in the Yorkshire Dales, Eden Valley or Carlisle before returning home in the evening.
There is a full programme of guided walks designed to tie in with the DalesRail timetable. Why not join a walk and explore somewhere new this summer? You can find more information here.
