"Lancashire Dales Rail"
Sundays 23 March, 4 May, 18 May to 29 June, 27 July until 19 October - The timetable for this period is now available by clicking here. The Lancashire Dales Rail programme includes guided walks and connecting buses from certain trains to wonderful parts of the Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines. FARES
How much does it cost to travel on the line?
This depends on where you are starting and ending your journey. The adult day return fare from Settle to Carlisle is £18.90 (correct as of January 2008 but subject to change). Child prices (5 to 15 years) are 50% of the adult fare and under fives travel free. Fares for Lancashire Dales Rail services are contained in the Lancashire Dales Rail leaflet available for download above.

Do I need to book in advance for the daily services on the line?
No, there is no need to book in advance. Tickets may be purchased in advance at any manned station, by telephone or internet facilities. If you book via our website link to thetrainline.com the Friends will earn commission on the sale - just click here to help us to raise funds for the line.
What sorts of tickets are available?
Singles, day return and saver return tickets as well as season tickets and rover/ranger tickets (see below). National Railcard discounts apply. Weekly/monthly tickets are also available and afford great value if you travel on the line daily. If you are starting or ending your rail journey at stations elsewhere on the national rail network, any valid through ticket can be used for travel on the line.
Can we get a rover or ranger ticket?

Is there a local user railcard scheme?
Dales Railcards cost just £10 and can be purchased by residents in the postcode areas adjacent to the line. The card entitles holders to a one third discount on fares and permits up to four accompanying children to travel at discounted child fares. Do Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line Members get a discount?
Members of the Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line are entitled to buy a Gold Card which is a railcard entitling them to 1/3rd off travel on the line, and special offers from time to time. Further details of the Gold Card are in our news item and the application form. You can also obtain a Gold Card from our secure website shop, along with membership if you're not a member already! A Gold Card is just £12 and membership is from £10.
Are Senior, Family, Disabled and Young Persons Railcard discounts available?
Yes, all national railcards are valid for travel on the line. The cost of Senior, Family and Young Persons Railcards increased to £24 in January 2008.
Can we get a family ticket to travel on the line?
A family ticket to travel on the line is not available.
However, depending on the journey to be taken, it may well be beneficial to consider a Family Railcard, which enables up to four adults and four children to travel together and get discounts 60% on child fares and one third on adult fares. The cost of the Railcard is £24 and it can quickly pay for itself.

Visitors from outside the UK
