The Settle Carlisle Railway featured in four categories in the National Rail Awards held last night at the Grosvenor Hotel, London.
The repair project at Eden Brows on the Settle-Carlisle Railway was high commended. The innovative scheme was delivered on time and on budget by local company, Story Contracting.
None of the other Settle-Carlisle nominations in the Outstanding Personal Contribution, Small Station of the Year and Outstanding Teamwork categories received awards. Manny Wright, who works in the booking office at Appleby, was nominated for the Outstanding Personal Contribution Award. Appleby was nominated in the Small station of the Year category. In the Outstanding Teamwork section, the project to use Tornado to haul scheduled services along the Settle Carlisle route was nominated.
It was good that the Settle Carlisle Railway was recognised with the four nominations
